The Ecoflow Delta Mini is described as a semi-compact, powerful, durable solar generator with a wide variety of outputs. It is intended for nomadic professionals, outdoor enthusiasts, and as a relay for households. But does this generator really keep its promises? Discover it through this detailed test.
Global presentation of the Ecoflow Delta Mini
Like the other models of the manufacturer Ecoflow, the housing of the Delta Mini is rectangular and two-tone (silver gray and black). The dimensions of this model are 37.8 ×18,4 × 24 cm (L×l×H) for 10,7 kg sur la balance. Two side handles protruding from the frame of the case allow to carry it.
On this generator, the ventilation grids are on the sides and the LCD screen on the front. Some elements of the connectivity are also located at the front. The rest is positioned at the back of the box.
We note that only one of the ports is covered with a rubber cap anti-water and anti-dust. Too bad that this is not the case for all of them!
Characteristics of the Ecoflow Delta Mini generator
The Ecoflow Delta Mini is meant to be a miniature version of the manufacturer's larger models, but with a solid spec sheet. Let's take a closer look.
Battery and power
The Delta Mini has an 882 Wh NCM Lithium-ion battery. It is equipped with a 230 V pure sine converter with a rated power of 1400 W (up to 2200 W thanks to the X-boost technology). It can therefore run most multimedia and home devices:
- Smartphones and tablets;
- Laptop computers ;
- Coffee machine;
- Cameras;
- Hair dryer;
- Refrigerator, etc.
Before connecting any of these appliances to your generator, be sure to check the power rating. It should be less than 2200W to ensure proper operation.
Autonomy
With its power and battery capacity, the Ecoflow Delta Mini solar generator can power
- A domestic refrigerator for 5 to 7 hours;
- A laptop computer for 12 hours;
- A circular saw for 30 minutes to 1 hour;
- A hair dryer for 30 minutes.
It can also provide two to three recharges for an electric bicycle.
As you will have understood, this generator is not adapted to an intensive use. For that, it would have to be recharged several times during the day, or even used while recharging. This could accelerate the deterioration process of the battery.
Charging
The Ecoflow Delta Mini is supplied with :
- 1 DC5521 - DC5525 cable;
- 1 Cigar lighter cable 1.5 meters;
- 1 AC power cable 1.5 meter.
It can therefore be recharged by :
- Solar panels;
- Cigarette lighter socket ;
- 900 W domestic wall socket.
Thanks to X-Stream technology, you can go from 0 to 100% in 96 minutes (1 h 36 minutes). To reach 80%, just 50 minutes.
For solar charging, the device supports a maximum input of 300 W (11-75V DC 10A max). You can therefore use :
- 2 or 3 110 V panels in series ;
- 2 panels 160 V in series ;
- 2 panels 220 V in series ;
- 1 400 V panel.
An integrated MPPT charge controller allows you to go from 0 to 100% in 3 to 6 hours.
Cigar-lighter charging (12V/24V DC 8A) takes 9 hours from 0 to 100%.
Fast charging compensates for limited battery life. However, if you have a prolonged power cut and it's dark, your wall socket and solar panels won't be able to recharge the generator.
All you'll have left is your car's cigarette lighter, which will take 9 hours to fully charge. In other words, the Delta Mini isn't the best choice for prolonged power failures.
Another small drawback with recharging this generator : it makes the fans noisy.
Lifetime
The EcoFlow Delta Mini battery is designed for 800 charging cycles. It therefore needs to go through 800 full charges before it reaches 80% of its rated capacity. In practice, this equates to a minimum service life of around 6 years under moderate use.
In addition to the number of cycles, an entire protection system is in place to ensure the generator's durability. This system protects against :
- Overloads;
- Short-circuits;
- Undervoltage and overvoltage;
- High/low temperatures;
- Voltage too high/too low.
To connect your portable generator to the mobile application, you can choose between wifi and Bluetooth.
Connectivity
The Ecoflow Delta Mini has 11 outputs subdivided as follows:
- 4 AC 230V outlets (50 Hz/60 Hz) 1800W (3000W boost) ;
- 2 USB-A ports 5V 2.4A 12W :
- 2 USB-A Fast Charge ports 5V/9V/12V 2.4A 28W ;
- 2 USB-C ports 5V/9V/15V/20V 3A 60W ;
- 1 cigarette-lighter socket 13.6V 8A 108.8W.
So you can connect any kind of device to your portable solar generator.
LCD Screen
The EcoFlow Delta Mini's LCD screen is touch-sensitive and intuitive. It provides real-time data on the unit's operation:
- Input or output power;
- Remaining charging time;
- Charge level;
- Temperature, etc.
You can also use the LCD screen to access parameters and adjust certain features of the portable powerstation.
Ecoflow application
Like the brand's other models, the EcoFlow Delta Mini is compatible with the Ecoflow app. Available on Android and iOS, it gives you access to the same data as the LCD screen. It can also be used to control your portable powerstation remotely:
- Battery management (switching on/off DC or AC sockets (including X-Boost);
- Battery autonomy and plug operation;
- Real-time parameters and monitoring;
- Consumption of connected devices;
- Access to consumption curves.
You can also use this application to manage the charging speed of your devices and set charging and discharging limits.
